[Dear Readers]

Dear Readers,
Yes, this is addressed to you.  I'm finding out that I have alot more traffic on my site than I realized at first. I would like this blog to move in a direction of something public. I realize that for the last little while I've been using it to keep a detailed journal.  However, with the knowledge that more people are reading this than I expected,  I am finding a serious joy in blogging.  Yes, I like to keep people updated in my life, but I've been attempting to refrain from writing about my day to day monotony, and instead, focus on me, or things I learned, or tell a story.  I've been working on revamping the site, (slowly).  Sites like Julie and Justin have been influencing me on writing styles, and I've been doing alot of research.

My big issue at this point in time is how to transition from a personal blog, to a more public blog.  The layout isn't professional, and the sidebar and links are definitely personal.  The blog posts are switching to this is what I learned from the boring stuff I used to post.  I may create a new blog all together, or at least get my own domain.  The traffic on this site is much much greater than I figured. I am getting on average 30 people a day... WITHOUT links from twitter and facebook.  I have people who just type in my blog name into the url bar and go.  Obviously, I'm doing something right, and I don't want to stray from that.

Its nice to organize my thoughts in coherent ideas.  The forward goal of this blog for the past 5 months was to turn this into something I want to export into a book and show to my kids later on.  The last couple posts however, have been oriented towards my readers, rather than myself, and my kids.  I'm usually compiling a blogpost in my head, of things that I see that might be of interest to the people who read this, or things that people might be able to learn.  I assume my "one-liners" will be sufficient enough to display the drama of the week.  If you are new to the blog, please visit my Favorite Posts page, to see some of my best work. This is always updated with the newest of the best :)

The site's being revamped.  I'm already working on importing new fonts.  I'm partial to the layout.  I like it alot. Its peaceful, but far from professional. I don't know what I'm going to do there yet. I plan to go re-do my tags, and introduce categories to the posts.  I've been busily rewriting code, and refreshing my CSS and HTML skills.  (oh boy). I'd like to add sections to the site for Photography, Scriptures, and Ideas of things to do. (not sure how possible that would be for Blogger, which, again is another pro to moving to my own domain. )

I must ask a favor to all of you who read this.  What do you like about the way I write, what do you not like? How should I fix this? What kind of content would you like to see?  The new tagline to the blog is going to be something like - Thoughts of Spirituality, Friendship, Technology and Love.  And that will be my focus.  I want the good and the bad.  However, if you comment, make it constructive criticism.  Not, "you're so horrible you do this." As I've been seeing some of that in the comments recently.  If you like the way I write, tell me.  If you want less drama.. tell me.  Obviously, you are on the site for a reason.  You're either here to find blackmail and stuff to use against me, you are learning from what I write, you are my mom, or you're interested in the things I have to say.  Tell me.

Over the next couple weeks, you'll see the changes begin.  And while the changes are happening, if you don't like something tell me. If the font is to big. If its hard to read? if you need me to clarify something. Be an active part of this blog. I'd love guest writers when this gets big... but that won't happen for a little while.  Promote the blog if you like what you see.  Link to it if it helps you.  Help me become a better writer, and help me make an impact on the blogging world.

For the longest time, people kept telling me to find a hobby and passion.  I did.  I want to make this a huge involved project in my life.  Please help me to live this dream. :)

Many thanks to all of you
Laura

My favorite blogs are those of random thought, lists of the day's emotional strengths you share with everyone, andi love hearing about your always growing relationship with your Heavenly Father. yet, im also glad you blog about the other stuff in life, that proves you're human. hopefully this helped...

I like your one liners or things that tell me about you. I like personal stuff over anything else. Though I don't know how a blog COULDN'T be personal... your own domain might not be a bad idea. But I like reading your blog cuz it keeps me updated on you over your Facebook statuses. :)

So you want to enter the world of competitive Blogging. There are a few things you need to think about.

First, how many "Unique" Visitors do you have Weekly? Meaning, new to you and have never been to your website before.

Second, out of those that do come here, how many know you personally, and how many come just to read your melodramatic Rampages?

Do you have enough content to post a well thought up, well constructed post at the bare minimum every other day?

Are you really willing to throw yourself in the limelight for all manners of Trolls, haters and ignorant people who are just full of shit? But will say incredibly mean, heartless, stuff just to get you upset?

Are you willing to remove People from your block/ignore list, and open yourself to their opinions of you, your actions and your thoughts?

Are you willing to grow up your mental attitude towards life in general? There are things in your recent history that if they were to come to public attention. (and the internet has a long memory) can you handle this kind of blanket in-your-face Name smearing and character defamation?

Blog interface professionalism be damned, I read a blog, who's title is "injuries, boobies, and dr. pepper". she makes a ton of money doing it. But she also talks about subjects that you, in your religious beliefs would find offensive.

You can make it more professional, but depending on what you are looking for you may bite of a heck of a lot more than you can chew. I'm not saying this to be mean, or to try and scare you away. I'm saying this to make you aware. So you know what you are potentially getting yourself into. I hope you thoroughly think this through.
