[My World of Music]
I haven't compiled a list like Trevor has, but I decided to do a quick blip on some of my favorite artists:
Nightwish:
Nightwish is up on my favorites. There is no song that they have done that HASN'T been epic. They are a Finnish symphonic metal band.
They, like other groups in their genre sing about fantasy. I am a huge fan of the new lead singer, as the old one was very operatic.
One of the things I like about them is the way they use synth strings and a variety of different synth symphonic instruments from strings to oboes and even piccolos. Here's an excerpt from one of my favorite songs by them, with the old lead singer, called Ghost Love Score, (Its a love ballad)
However, my absolute favorite song ever is in this video:
Other songs of note: Ghost Love Score, The Islander, Bye Bye Beautiful, Nemo, and Dark Chest of Wonders.
Within Temptation:
Don't let the name fool you, its an odd name, but its not Devil worshipers. This is my favorite band. While Nightwish holds my favorite song, WT is my favorite band, as I love ALL their songs. WT was my first glimpse into the Symphonic rock genre, and I've been fans of them since 2007. While they aren't as epic as Nightwish, Sharon's voice is crystal clear on top of all the symphonic ness going on. Within Temptation is Dutch. And instead of using synth instruments, they use real instruments. They also range through several moods. They went even so far as to do a country song called "utopia" Their concerts are epic though, with a full choir and symphony, and a fire show.
My favorite song by them is in the next video:
Within Temptation - The Howling
If you get a chance, go look at this video, the trailer for their concert-

The cool part? They pull Sharon out to do many different projects cause of her voice. They put her in a technobeat song, with a hot dj :D
Other good songs: Forsaken, Our Solemn Hour, Frozen, See Who I Am.
Evanescence
Evanescence was my first glimpse into the world of metal, and goth rock. And I Love it! Bring me to live was loved as I first heard it, and when I tried to show my siblings they all covered their ears complaining it was bad music. (I had a conservative family.) My Immortal hit home, and I loved listening to the vocalizations in Haunted. I have every song Evanescence has ever done. EP's, acoustics, etc. Evanescence was the first group I used to escape. Imaginary is my favorite. - "In my field of paper flowers And candy clouds of lullaby
I lie inside myself for hours And watch my purple sky fly over me" Owl City
Owl city is a recent addition to my happy place. I came across them when I was dating Cory, cause his roommate was listening to a song called "hello seattle" While Cory and I were in Vegas, Fireflies was the Itunes single of the week, (but it wasn't really released for another couple months.) I'm happy to say I was a fan of Fireflies before the world was. While Fireflies is my favorite song by them, I'm going to show case Vanilla Twilight, because, this is slowly becoming Chris and My song, (just as a joke, cause he's always gone)
Owl City is a single guy who is an insomniac who spent his late nights up writing music.
Lights
Lights is the female version of Owl City. In fact, she tours with them. She's not all that well known either. Lights fillfills my need for cute little love songs. February air and the listening are even among my ringtones. The music video kind of sucks though.
Lady Gaga
I have fallen for Lady Gaga. Her Paparazzi song and Telephone song are incredible. These songs I can listen to over and over and over again. She just happened to be one of those talented people in New York who got picked up by highly influential people. One of those success stories. Unfortunately, each one of her music videos have something partially inappropriate in them, so I will not be displaying them here.
Pink
Pink has been my sympathist for a long time. She has a song for every feeling and bad experience I've ever had. Her songs So What and Who Knew were my most listened songs during the beginning of the year. Pink seems to get the issues of the world, along with the issues of the heart.
My mantra, and crying song for winter of 2010 was this song, which fit exactly to my situation.
Britney Spears
Yes, I'll admit it, I'm a fan of Britney Spears. I like her songs very much. When she switched to the hip hop/techno genre, I liked her songs more often. These are the songs I love to dance to. Circus, Piece of Me, Radar, Toxic. Everytime is one I cry to.
A-Teens
Muahahaha.. Yes, I like the A-Teens. Swedish group. Coed. Poppy. Happy music. The.End. :D
A-Teens - Mamma Mia
Aly and AJ
I love the poppy but not so pop element. Female Rock. I love it. These guys make me happy. Like Whoa, Chemicals React, Into the Rush, and Potential BreakUp song I head bang to.
Gosh, all these people I've posted.... they're all female singers... do I have any boy singers?
Coheed and Cambria
Wow, I like the scary looking people. So, I was introduced to these guys from Rockband. Their main song "Welcome Home" was also on the trailer for Tim Burton's film, 9. This song I also attribute to saving my life during my months of darkness..
Linkin Park
Back to the Goth groups again. Like Amy Lee of Evanescence, Linkin Park is what also pulled me out of my conservative family life, and into the world of emotional music. My first step into the linkin park world was filled with cringing at the mild screamo due to lack of exposure. Breaking the Habit, In the end, and Numb were my favorites, while now, Crawling and their new album are in my playlists.
Savage Garden
Oh the Yesteryears. I happen to enjoy the rock version of the boybands. GooGoo dolls, Third Eye Blind, Red Hot Chili Peppers, 3 Doors Down... etc. My favorite of them is Savage Garden. Affirmation, I Want You, To the Moon and Back, Crash and Burn. These were the songs I'd record using my tape deck/radio machine. I'd record them right off the radio and listen to them over and over.
Coldplay
Its Bryan Whitney's fault I got into Coldplay. He had me listening to Clocks and the Speed of Sound years ago. I'll admit that I don't listen to them that often, however Viva la Vida changed my life. So did Life in Technicolor.
Unfortunately, I can't embed Viva la Vida, but you can watch it here
Backstreet Boys
Yes, I still listen to Backstreet Boys. Brings back my Childhood. Larger than Life, Backstreet's Back, Incomplete. Oh boy.... I had 3 of their albums growing up. Just like Britney Spears.
As an Added Bonus, Since we are doing music videos anyway.... I give the award for the coolest/freaky music video to Kerli : (Pure Psychadelic video)
All of this is excluding my world of Soundtracks.
P.S. Check out my 101 in 1001 and see how I'm doing!
