[Mormon Bachelor Pad]

*POST EDIT* Due to the sheer number of people coming to this page looking for the MBP... According to their Twitter - http://www.twitter.com/_mbp They said: Calvin & I just had a long conversation about quitting the blog. Summer is getting too busy. Any encouragement or discouragement?

and then they disappeared.

************************************************************************************************

I would like everyone to look over on the right hand side where there's a section called followers.  Now. 1. If you haven't already, click follow.  Otherwise, look at who the newest follower of my blog is....

That's right, the Mormon Bachelor Pad.

I've been following them for a little while.  Laughing at the ventures, but feeling mostly relieved that boys in general actually think about girls like this, not in a horny way, (but, yes, these boys can be horny at times, and shallow...) but you can see they are genuinely concerned about the person they're supposed to find for the eternities... and after my breakup, I was conditioned that boys don't care. They take the girl, they use her, they dump her...  and only if they're good enough, do they keep her.  You look at Jake and Calvin,  (which, based on personality alone, I'd go on a date with them....  I'd have a blast, if anything else.... Ask Kristen my plans to get a date with one of the MBP boys :D ) they're like the other boys I know,(i.e. danny and chris.  The difference is Danny and Chris don't talk about girls all the time...  but, I bet anything *THEY* don't either, that's just what the contents of the blog are.)

They write about girls, and kissing, and what its like to be a boy.  But many people assume the shallowness of these boys just because that's all they write about.  Let me point out though, dear readers, that I spent a long time talking about Danny and the spirituality he was helping me to gain, but I can guarantee that's not what I talked about all day.   I'm pretty sure they write specific things just to inflame people... but realize they're trying to be funny.  Me being a blog writer of my own, know what its like to keep the blog thoughts different than every day life.  They're probably not all that different from any other guy, they just choose to express and emphasize different things on the blog.  Sheesh, one of my guy friends whom I introduced to MPB, was wondering about all the anonymity, and I was like, look at the sheer number of girls who want to slap them, for the way that they think... and he was like.. I think the same way.  I responded with, hmmm yes, this is probably why you've never brought it up before.

P.s. notice how when they HAD a girl, they stuck to her?  The only players are their roommates.

I left a comment on the blog:

Believe it or not, unbeknownst to most utahans who are left in the bubble, most guys do it at least once in their life. I have several friends who have this problem. Just because you sin, and you're mormon doesn't mean you're a hypocrite. Everyone makes mistakes, *I've* made mistakes, haha.. you have too.. you want all your friends coming to you to tell you that you're a hypocritical mormon because you gossipped? Or watched a movie with Sex in it?

People are so judgemental. If you don't like it, don't read it, but all you so called "good mormons" who went off on Calvin, you stood on your own soapbox, and with a seriously un christlike attitude, struck him down and cast the first stones. How hypocritical is that?!

Dear Calvin. Girls are alot smarter than you give them credit for, and alot more forgiving. Your bridge isn't burned... especially if you blame it on embarrassment.

Hiding because of it will burn the bridge. and make the construction company blow up too. Good luck.

I left the blog feeling pretty good about myself, and come back to my own 2 hours later to find them following me.  Which yes, maybe they follow anyone who shows faith in them, but still.. its someone mildly famous following my blog!

Plus:

I ended up in a fit of giggles.

Anyways, in all seriousness, most people will read it and go... who ARE these guys? How Dare they say that.  There are also people out there trying to figure out who they are.  These guys have covered themselves up pretty well.   Besides, it'll ruin all the fun of the MBP.   If they were found out, that'd be the end of them.  Seems like the people bent on figuring out who they are, are the ones who don't understand them, or don't want to.

I'm considering trying the snail mail part, just so I might end up with a really funny pen pal.  ^_^

Anyways, that's my piece.  **shrug **   I enjoyed my weekend, to say the least.

Time to get ready for church.

P.S. Check out my 101 in 1001  and see how I'm doing!

MBP is a great idea for a blog and I think whoever the anonymous author is has done a pretty good job at being edgy enough to get readers to pay attention without totally alienating everyone. From a business standpoint, it looks like they're having a harder time monetizing the blog than the other successful fictional Mormon Blog (Seriously So Blessed), so I hope they figure that out soon. They put way too much effort into the blog to not get paid for it. Anyway, the funniest part is definitely all the comments from people who think that Jake and Calvin are real people.

Seriously So Blessed! I love that blog.

Hey, I'm a girl, and I can dream that there are boys like that out there. I know 2 just like that.

You're saying you don't think like that?

There are def boys out there like Jake and Calvin. I think MBP is a great blog. Jake and Calvin aren't real people, but that doesn't mean they aren't realistic characters.

While I'm not entirely sure if they are or not...

What makes you so sure?

What makes me so sure what, that they aren't real?

Oh I don't. I have no idea who writes the blog. I just think it's a much more plausible hypothesis that it's fiction than not.

And yet... you follow it ;)
