[The End :D]

We're going to take a break from the planned out blogposts, and just let me scream for a moment:

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

I feel like Crap.

For those who don't know, the newest thing on my plate is this.   Which they came back and are throwing it on me, and not only that BYU won't help me cause I'm not a student there, the landlords refuse to do mediation, and my rent has now been sent to collections because I pretty much told the landlord to shove it when he demanded my rent... (though he gave me 2 days in his first offer.  When I told him to shove it, he changed it to this morning. )  I wasn't going to get get 600 in 2 days... so sucks for him anyway.

I just don't know what to do. I'm about to start the process to do Small Claims court, and I'm going to try and do the UVU mediations.  Its just...

*********************************************************************************
Yes, I'm leaving that mid sentence.  I just got off the phone with the DEAN of BYU Law.  Who also happens to be the next door neighbor of my family. He spent an hour with me on the phone, listened to my story, and told me what to do.   Which is this: Sleep soundly until Collections sends a letter.  If/When they do that (cause it could totally be a threat) Then I dispute it, over and over.  Then, IF it gets taken to court, I read this line from the Contract:

If the student or Landlord finds a suitable substitute student who executes a new rental Agreement with the landlord, the student may terminate without penalty or further contractual obligation.

Lily signed a contract at the time she signed the rental app.

"We usually have the students do both at the same time because 95% of BYU students are ok."   Those were his EXACT words.

When I signed the contract, I filled out both applications, and then never had to sign anything again. She finalized everything,   She just didn't pay money.
Plus, they kicked me out, which is reason enough that they had someone ready to take my contract.

So.  The end!.

There's a reason that I'm a CS student, and not a Law student.  It looks cool on TV.... it sucketh in real life.

Thank you to Al Merkley at BYU Law School.  I am going to make you cookies.

I just really hope they don't destroy the contract Lily signed and try to play off that she came in but never signed anything.

I would be worried that they'd be racking up late fees on the rent. If they win in court, maybe they'd be able to tack on those fees plus the overdue rent. But if they've already turned it over to collections, maybe that's not an issue.

Good luck.

Oh, and if they DID turn it over to collections, let us know how that goes. I've never dealt with collections and I'm morbidly curious what the process is like. ;)
