Once upon a time, I wrote a song. It was called Dark Angel, and it was written in honor of my ex boyfriend. It was written well over a year ago, and was done in the despair that we weren't dating about 2 days before we actually did start dating.
I won't post that piece. Its nasty. It was recorded on an mp3 player, on my out of tune piano. Its also very unfinished, only a minute in length, and its just a template for the song.
Here is an idea of where I'm going with the song. Mistakes and all.
Think of it like... a music box that i've opened. I'm reliving a memory. And at the end.. I close the box. Yes, there's no dynamics, no nothing... its horrible, I know.. but I think it still SOUNDS cool.
Over the last little while, I've been showing up at the ALMA lab at BYU with Danny while he works on his final projects, and I've been recording away. Here's little blips - they're all about a minute in length.
Honestly, the look on Danny's face when he figured out what song it was was totally worth creating this piece of nothing.
A technoized version of Dark Angel.... I actually Kind of like this one over the first one.. at least the idea of it.
This is something that I did trying to mimic Christopher Knorr. As you can see, I've been screwing around with the techno noises, and multiple layers. THIS is probably the direction I will go with Dark Angel.
And Lastly... I've had this arrangement of "I love to see the temple" floating around in my head. If I knew what to do next with this... I'd love myself... but as I'm at a loss for finishing this song.... Well, Its probably my favorite church arrangement so far.
Tell me what you think :)
Absolutely amazing, dear. I'm still not quite sure who this Cory is, but this is quite an amazing song.
ReplyDeleteDon't put yourself down TOO hard. It's very good.
Be-uuu-tiful, Laura! The ALMA Lab is such a lovely place to be. I hope to hear more arrangements and original pieces by you!
